Marbles are a type of metamorphic rock composed primarily of calcium carbonate, or calcite. They can be of different colors and veins, such as white, black, gray, yellow, pink, green, and blue. Marbles can be classified based on several characteristics, including chemical composition, structure, color, and veining.
Granite is a compact, polishable, decorative and/or construction phanero-crystalline rock, mainly composed of very hard minerals (such as quartz, feldspars, feldspathoids, micas). This category includes granites, diorites, syenites, gabbros, porphyries, gneisses, and serizzi.
Nuts are a type of semi-precious stone composed of silica and aluminum dioxide.
They can be of different colors such as black, brown, white, gray, red, purple and yellow.
Travertines are a type of sedimentary marble, formed mainly from calcium carbonate.
The color can vary from white to yellow, beige, brown and gray. Their natural appearance and the characteristics of resistance and durability make them very popular in architecture and interior design.
Quartzites are metamorphic sedimentary rocks composed mainly of quartz. Quartz is a siliceous mineral that gives quartzites a high hardness and resistance to wear.
They can be of different colors, such as gray, pink, yellow, orange and red.
Balma syenite is an intermediate magmatic rock, similar in composition to granites, but unlike them it is devoid of quartz or with relatively small quantities of quartz. The color varies from brown to gray and purple. Syenite in Italy is found in the middle Cervo Valley.
Stone or rock for construction and/or decoration, is usually not polishable. This category includes rocks of very varied mineralogical composition, not included in any classification.
They are recognizable in two groups:
Soft and/or not very compact rocks (calcarenites, sandstones, peperini, tuffs)
Hard and/or compact rocks (quartzite mica schists, gneisses lastroids, slates, trachytes, basalts)
Agglomerates can be cement-based or resin-based.
Cement-based agglomerates are a type of material composed of a mixture of cement, water, and aggregates (granular materials such as sand, gravel, or steel slag).
Resin-based agglomerates are a type of material composed of a mixture of synthetic resin, reinforcement, and aggregates.
